Building on a remarkable year of achievements for the motor finance team, including our expansion into the leisure market and a new partnership with OMODA and JAECOO UK, we are delighted to announce the appointment of Alexandre Marie as Head of Motor at BNP Paribas Personal Finance UK.

Originally from Normandy, Alexandre brings with him a wealth of experience from his time with Peugeot to his rich 17-year career with BNP Paribas. His expertise spans finance, operations, and leadership roles across regions such as Réunion, the Caribbean, and Central Europe.

As Head of Motor, Alexandre is set to play a crucial role in expanding our motor finance services. We sat down with Alexandre to catch up with him and learn more about how he plans to leverage his experience to drive forward our motor division.

Strategic vision and goals

Since stepping into his new role, Alexandre has been laying the groundwork for a bold strategy which is set to revolutionise our approach to motor finance.

Key elements of his strategy include:

  1. Enhancing OEM partnerships — building on our collaboration with brands such as OMODA and JAECOO UK to capture new opportunities in the UK market.
  2. Innovating within the used car finance market — crafting new solutions to address the evolving needs of customers in this sector.
  3. Strategically collaborating with the wider BNP Paribas Group — working collaboratively with Arval, leveraging both companies’ strengths to create a powerful market presence.
  4. Increasing cross-functional collaboration — creating more of an integrated extended virtual team across the business.

Alexandre shared more detail about his vision: “As Head of Motor, my focus is on harnessing new opportunities and transforming our operations to meet ambitious goals. Our strategic partnerships and innovative solutions are central to shaping the future of our motor division.”

Innovation and collaboration

Our commitment to evolving with the needs of our partners and customers has always been at the forefront of the way we work at BNP Paribas Personal Finance UK and is something that Alexandre is keen to continue.

Alexandre’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for the motor finance team as they are beginning a journey into new market areas. He has already led the team to a significant milestone, successfully onboarding 40 dealerships in six weeks, working towards the goal of reaching 100 by the end of 2024.

His leadership is set to bring transformative changes to the motor division, aligning with our broader goals of innovation and market expansion.

Alexandre commented: “The motor industry is rapidly evolving, influenced by the economy, the rise of electric vehicle (EV) adoption, and the dynamics of distribution through OEMs.

“Our strategy is designed to make sure we stay ahead of these challenges. By deepening our OEM relationships, integrating cutting-edge technology, and focusing on the used car market, we aim to set new benchmarks in motor finance.”

A significant part of Alexandre’s approach involves creating a collaborative and integrated team environment. He explained: “Building a unified team across various functions, including IT and finance, is essential for delivering exceptional results and driving growth.

“I am committed to fostering a one team mindset internally, where everyone works together to deliver a seamless solution to our customers. My 17 years in the BNP Paribas Group means I have a deep network which I can pull on when needed which will be especially helpful in this area.”

“I am excited to be working within such a strong and well-established team, and I look forward to seeing what progress is to come.”

Commenting on Alexandre’s appointment, Andrew Brameld, Chief Commercial Officer, said: “It is with great pleasure that we welcome Alexandre to the BNP Paribas Personal Finance UK Mobility team. Alexandre joins us at an incredibly exciting time for the business and he will bring his wealth of experience, contacts and expertise to lead our Motor business forward.”
